My aim as a Yoga teacher couldn’t be better expressed than in this thank you sent by a participant:

“ I’m always quite emotional in your class. I think it’s gratefulness ! Truly, your yoga has had a huge impact on my life . I practice it to get to sleep, to stay calm and to generally look at situations in a different way.”

Hello

Hi, I’m Cath - and I love living and working in Purbeck.

I arrived here by way of Blackpool my home town - Bristol where I trained as an actress and London, where I worked as an actress for many years.

In 1998 I made the move to Purbeck, firstly to Langton and eventually to Worth where I spent almost 20 years, running a smallholding and working at The Square and Compass with my then partner Charlie.

In 2008, when I decided to leave my life in the theatre, I turned towards something that had accompanied me throughout my days as an actress - Yoga and meditation.

I have a deep respect for and belief in the ancient practices of Yoga and meditation. They have been woven into the fabric of my life since my early twenties.

So, in 2009 I started teaching a small group of people at Worth Matravers Village Hall - and things have grown from there.

I have been a qualified Yoga teacher for over thirty years, training with Velta Wilson at the British Wheel of Yoga and topping up my training with the BSY - British School of Yoga.

I also became a fully qualified and accredited Mindfulness Meditation teacher - training for several years with Bodhin Philip Woodward at his retreat centre, specialising in MBSR (mindfulness based stress reduction) and in Trauma Sensitive Mindfulness.

It has been my great pleasure to guide and witness the gentle transformation that Yoga and meditation bring to bear on anyone who cares to give them a serious try.

Regular classes can be of tremendous benefit for both physical and emotional health.

My classes are filled with individuals who share a common purpose - to take an active role in their own health and well being.

I love the fact that our ages range from late teens to late seventies!

And isn’t it wonderful that people can be helped to manage pain and anxiety, find moments of clarity and peace in busy lives, recover from minor surgery and be supported through major health conditions and interventions - using techniques that are more than 3,000 years old?

I specialise in Hatha Yoga, Mindful Movement and Mindfulness Meditation.

I offer classes to suit all ages and abilities - including a gentle yoga class for seniors, all abilities classes and an intermediate class.

I run a Sunday morning Meditation Group - Breathing Space - and also offer courses and one to one sessions.

One to one sessions available in yoga too.
